I had the coolest email this week, from a girl thanking me for the books, and for writing back to her when she emails… and it got me thinking. We don’t say thank you often enough! So let’s do something about it….
Here is Emma’s email, which started me thinking….
Thanks Cathy for writing to me the way you do. You’re an international writer who has loads of fans and yet you still take time to write back to each one of us personally. You answer our questions and help us out. I know no other author who does that so thanks!
And thanks, too, because your books are so inspirational. They help me understand and believe and want to stand up for myself! Thanks, Cathy!
So… who would I say thanks to? Lot of people, for lots of things!!!!
A big THANKS to my fab family, for putting up with me… to my friends… to all the fab crew at Puffin books & also to my agent, for making my dreams come true… to my writer-gal pals, Fiona Gibson, Lisa Clark, Magi Gibson & Meg Rosoff, for patience, laughs & understanding… to Fluffy Puffin, for everything… to Kitty’s Tearoom, for having the best cake in the known universe… to the cool kids who came to the EDINBURGH BOOK FEST recently, to see me…. to everyone who emails me with feedback & support… everyone who voted for me in Queen of Teen… to Daisy & Kelpie (dogs), Midnight & Snowy (rabbits) & Lily, Pickle & Pepper (cats) for letting me stroke them… to llamas, for existing… and lots, lots more. Including Emma N, for giving me the cool idea for this blog!

i was just reading about your thank yous, and i guess i never really thanked you properly.
i read dizzy, that got me hooked, and since then, i have read, and bought, all your books. the way you have written them is just…just inspirational. when i grow up, i want to be an author, ever since i was little i have wanted to be one. but your books, and the way you’ve written have made me want to really pursue my dream.

i will say a big thatnk you to you because your books are ace and so are you but i dont think you need reminding with all these posts!its true though.im currently writing my letter to you and drawing a picture too.im not going to plead to you about coming to my town or that im your best fan but i think everyone is a big fan in different ways.i would like to thank my best friend for life,taylor, for introducing me to you brill books i have read all your books apart from ginger snaps, im looking forward to reading it.i just want you to know that we appreciate your books and how you write them.

Hi!!! It must take a LOT to write so many brilliant books and still have time to meet your fans and send us emails,etc. Thats why I want to say a BIGGGGGG THANK YOUUUUUUUU!!!!!! And keep writing! I think you have an amazing talent!! Dizzy is SOOOOOOOOOOO good!

I lov all of you books, well the ones i have read. I haven’t read Dizzy and Lucky star but when i can i will.
I have sometimes seen you Tesco in Dumfries and when i see you again i will thank you for writing such great books.
hey cathy, I just wanna say a HUUUGGGEEE thankyou for all your awesome books!! I can really actually realate to Ginger 😀 You’ve inspired me to be myself and just stand up for myself so much more often, and of course I obviously enjoy READING the books 😛
Even though the characters are mostly younger than me, I find it so easy to just sit down and read for a bit instead of sitting on my bum at the computer all day! MIRACLE! So, thankyou soo much and NEVER give up writing because I’ll still be reading your books when I’m 40-something!! Love Bethany xxx

Hi Cathy! I totally agree! I want to say thank you as well. You may think that your books don’t appeal to me, because I’m 9, but they do! I understand every bit of them, and I think Indigo Blue is the best book EVER! I think it’s about time someone said thank you. I’ll say it too. I’ll say thank you for all I need to say thanks for. Thank you, Cathy, for being so kind and posting your blog every few weeks or so. It shows that you’re patient, kind, and you really care. You reply personally to peoples’ emails, unlike some writers, who just get their agents/publishers to do it instead. I am going to buy GingerSnaps as soon as possible =]! I don’t have any friends, and you probably don’t have time to read this (what with all the reading fanletters, emails and whatnot anyhow!), but I feel I can really relate to Aisha. When I was at school (I’m home-educated now!), I was the new girl with no friends. I tried hard to be someone’s friend, but they kept pushing me out. Indigo Blue really helped me.
