Summer’s Dream

SUMMER is quiet, confident, pretty, popular and VERY serious about dance . . .

Summer has always dreamed of dancing, and when a place at ballet school comes up, she wants it so badly it hurts.

Middle school ends and the holidays begin, but unlike her sisters, Summer has no time for lazy days and sunny beach parties. The audition becomes her obsession, and things start spiralling out of control . . .

The more Summer tries to find perfection, the more lost she becomes. Will she realise – with the help of the boy who wants more than friendship – that dreams come in all shapes and sizes?

  6. This is my absolute fave Cathy Cassidy book, and one of my fave all time books as well. The first time I read this book I couldn’t put it down! Maybe because it sorts realate said to me, I’ve been dancing for 8 years and dancing is my life, even though I only take one class a week so far ( Jazz dance, and I hope to take more next year). As soon as I finished this book I picked it back up and started reading it again, and again, until I had memorised many phrases, quotes and opening sentences. This was my inspiration for dancing, and probably saved me from an eating disorder, and made me better and more determined that I’ve ever been. I would love for you to write more books based around dance, and I’m sure summer has inspired many girls like me, and even those who don’t dance, it has helped me achieve my dreams of becoming an okay dancer!! Thanks so much Cathy, and I would LOVE it If you could write som more books around dancing!

  10. I am yet to find a book that sits so deeply in heart. I first read this book when it came out and then kind of forgot about it. This year however, its become evident to me that I in fact suffer from EDNOS (starving coupled with binging in my case) and this book has allowed me to relate to summer. read back and see how it changed her life and where I can change to get better.
    Thank you Cathy
