I got it on Friday and finished it on Sunday… I was hooked on it. I couldn’t take my eyes off it. It has such a great plot with twists when you least expect them it, its like a book with thousands of snippets of peoples lives all put
into one great book. This is Cathys best book yet – the three words I would use to sum up this book are: thrilling, fantastic and magical!

Sundae Girl is absoloutely outstanding, it is a book I will treasure for a long time. It is sad, happy, weird and funny all at the same time and I really felt I could relate to all of the characters at different points. My fave character has to be Judes Gran!

I have just finished your book. it was brilliant! i didnt like the ending part though, it made me cry :( i liked the way Jude’s mum was unpredictable because it made the book even harder to put down! i think that anyone who a parent with alcohol problems would be able to relate to this book in a lot of ways. it has made me understand more about the
disease that Judes gran suffered from too. i think that it was good how there were sad parts of the story but there were also funny
parts-especially with Toto the dog!! this is a brilliant book which i would recommend to everyone!

i’ve read all of cathy cassidy’s books, which are quite frankly some of the best teenage books i’ve ever read! you really relate to Jude and cathy cassidy really knows what goes in teenager’s heads! its pretty amazing really. the story goes into her family life and how her mum drinks a lot and eventually admits she has a problem, after many unkept promises and false hope. Something really bad happens in Jude’s family. I cried so much! so be warned. you might need a box of tissues! Jude gets lovely
suprise at the end! It soon becomes clear that this book still maintains the superb quality of all of the other books by Cathy Cassidy. This is a story which tells about a young girl’s courage to help her alocholic mum. Its inspiring, romantic and really touches the heart. It’s a must read!

i never realised how alike me and the character Jude were- we are about the same age, grade 4 piano, but luckily my mum isn’t an alcoholic and doesnt smoke. i really felt for the characters in this book and Carter is so adorable.

I was really relating to Jude whilst I was reading Sundae Girl. Her lovable Gran had me smiling at the book and Carter had me shaking my head! I willed Jude to do stuff, like go out with Carter, and I was wondering how it was all going to be alright at the end. Then, when 1 of my fave characters, Gran, died, I have to admit, I got the Kleenex out. But Jude muddled through and ended well with us all screaming for her to kiss Carter!!!

sorry iv’e been writing to you all the time but just can’t help it! anyway i went to greece his summer and read this book. i thought it was an amazing book i enjoyed it so much! It really gave me a mix in emotions like it made me laugh with Carter but it made me sad about mum’s drinking problem. But you must be an amazing writer if you can mix people’s amotions like that. Also you painted really clear pictures in my head and you have crazy imagingation but an amazing mind!

Sundea Girl is about a girl called Jude, who thinks her family are embressing. Her dad thinks he is Elivs and her mum gives her pots of problems, like the fact that she is an acholic. Her mum promises Jude that she will stop drinking, yet she never does. Meanwhile a boy from her school called Kevin Carter is folloeing her around on on roller-blades but ends up being her hero when he passes on a VERY important mesage.

This is one of my fave Cathy Cassidy book and I give it 11 out of 10.

I bought Sundae Girl as a result of winning my Spelling Bee at school (inaccessibility was the word!) and received a voucher. I knew what to buy! I loved it, especially the part where Jude’s Mum burnt Victoria’s veil.

Although many people say it is great, they also have to look at the message within – about Jude’s Mum’s addiction, Gran’s Alzheimers and how things aren’t always good on the inside for girls like Kristina.

Sunday girl is an amzaing book. It has mixed emotions in it and is really brilliant. I love all of it except for the part where the girls gran is put into hospital because she had a stroke and ends up dying, because my Grandad had a stroke and he died too =[, and the gran also had Alzheimer’s, which my Grandad had too.
I like the whole Elvis party with the girls dad and wife because it was just a whole Elvis theme for every single person, and i also like the idea that there is this completely normal girl, with parents as wierd as anything! I like the fact that there is this really popular girl at school, really pretty, but she hides her life from everyone: her disabled brother, her small house, because she was ashamed and wants to keep up a reputation. Overall, the book is absoloutley fantastic, and definitely one of the best CC books ever written!!

This book is the first book I have read by Cathy Cassidy and it is FAB! I absolutely loved the book. I Love the style of writing it really feels like your there. I really loved this book. I’ve read all the CAthy CAssidy books except from Lucky Star, which my teacher hasn’t got in the calssroom. I love all the Cathy Cassidy books, and the character I admire most is definitely Scarlett, but Misti in Indigo Blue was also one of my favorites. Driftwood tackled some really important issues of the world today, as do all, but the book I could realte to most was Sundae girl. Jude is very brave and has a strong heart. Her situation is very common and similar to mine not so long ago. Lots of peple do have this problem, and the thing I love most about all the Cathy Cassidy books is that they tackle real life issues of girls from just about any age group, whist still making a fantabulously funny, tender- hearted and intriguing read. Write another book, please, Cathy, please!

I loved Sundae Girl! I just couldn’t put it down. I found that it was really unfair on Jude and her Grandad. I felt sorry for her Gran and kind of bad for her Mum. But Carter did turn out to be her knight in shining armour, well, ROLLERBLADES! I felt so happy for Jude’s Dad, Bobby, and Victoria though I don’t think I would want a burning wig at my wedding!

The book was amazing, i couldn`t put it down and read it in only 1 day! It gives a good touch on what it`s like to have a mum with a problem with drinking and a family thats totally weird!This book was sad, funny at times, romantic and crazy.

I went into asda because I was looking for something to read. I saw the glittery writing and picked the book up. Once I had read what the book was about I wanted to get it straight away and then read it. But the queue was really long. I had to help my dad with packing the bags. When I eventually got home I started to read it. I finished the book within one day. Cathy Cassidy knows how to make you want to read on.Especially at the ends of chapters.

Hi Cathy its abbie a girl from st john vianney where you came to visit. When i brought your book some of my friends told me that the book was really good. I loved it when you said the part about coventry and tile hill when you came to my school, when you said that you grew up in tile hill i felt a shiver going up my body because i also grew up there! But now i live in kenilworth i havent really got used to it yet, i havent made any friends round there! I havent finished the book yet but i cant wait to finish it. I LOVED it. I was sooo hooked. I read the book in a night. My Mum kept on coming into my room telling me to stop reading and go to sleep but i couldnt. i Love Sundae Girl! It’s
funny, sad and opens your eyes. I couldn’t help bursting out laughing at times and my mum had to come into my room in the middle of the night to ask why I was laughing so much! The alchool issue made me realize people don’t just drink for the sake of it. They have problems behind it. At the end, though, when Jude’s gran died, I felt like crying! But it’s a real good book, so keep it up, Cathy! xxx

Well, Sundae Girl was the first ever Cathy Cassidy book I read – and I’m so glad I read it. It was my first step into the world of Cathy Cassidy and it was one brilliant step. The book was, in one word, amazing, although mere words could not describe how excellent this book really is. Cathy manages to convey the emotions of Jude superbly and there were a few times when I felt like I had been transported into her life. It tells of how a young girl copes with her alcoholic mum, a dad who thinks he’s Elvis Presley and her gran, who has Alzheimers disease. This book was breath-taking from start to finish – although one word of advice: keep some tissues nearby, I cried at the very end! I don’t know why, there was no specific part of the book which made me cry, it was just the whole story in general! Thanks Cathy for a brilliant read, and never, ever stop writing – the world would lose the most fantastic author ever.

This book is one one Cathy’s brilliantly outstandingly utterly fably awesome books. My favourite part is when her mother finally kicks the drink at the end and she starts helping other alcoholics. That part was very touching. My least favourite part is when Giovanni comes to get Jude and her mum in Glasgow and tells them the awful news…i won’t spoil it for people who haven’t read it yet and they should! I loved reading the part when Kevin Carter went to Jude’s house when she was in Glasgow and found out Molly was in the hospital! Also that he went all the way to Giovanni’s italian resturaunt and told him to go to Glasgow! Kevin sounds so sweet! Even though the ending is sad because Molly dies, I do think the ending part was the best part of all the story!!

Sundae Girl is a book about a girl called Jude who has a mum who is an alcoholic and a dad who is an Elvis impersonator. When her mum gate crashes her dad`s wedding (to his new girlfriend) and sets the bride on fire with her cigarette lighter things go from bad to worse luckily her dads wife to be is a very patient woman and forgives Jude’s mum straight away. Her Mum has a lovely boyfriend called Giovanni who she is horrible to but he still loves her and eventually gets her off all the drink. Jude lives with her mum and her grandma and grandpa, her grandpa is constantly looking after her grandma because she has Alzheimer’s. When her grandma dies of a stroke at the end of the book everyone comes together and realise that they are not a bad family after all amongst all their problems. I would say this book would be good for ages 12-14 I wouldn’t recommend it to children under the age of 12 because there is quite a lot of talk about drink and smoking. Before this book I read lucky star by Cathy Cassidy and I thought Sundae Girl was a little bit disappointing after having read lucky star. out of ten I would rate this book a 7.

This book is mind-blowing! How Jude can cope with her Mum and help save her ! I am so glad Carter and Jude started ’ HANGING OUT ’ in the end. I felt sad when Alex found the dead bird and worried when Rosa set fire to Victoria’s veil. This book makes you feel a variety of emotions and feelings. I couldn’t take my eyes of it and I cant wait to read another one of you books cause their fab !

Mmm… there’s a very very sweet bond between Carter and Jude. I also love the family relationship bits, the loving grandfather and mother. The twists between Jude’s mom are amusing. Its also makes a statement on what drugs and stuff can do to your life. ;) Like I said, cute ending.

This book is a real page-turner. I read it on Flips Cathy Cassidy and was the first Cathy Cassidy book I ever read.
It’s about a girl called Jude, who thinks her family is pretty embarassing. Her dad is an Elvis impersonator, her Granny has a disease where she forgets a lot of things and her Grandpa is sweet but embarassing and her mum is hiding a big secret-she drinks. Jude’s parents are split, and her mum has a boyfriend called Giovanni and her dad has a girlfriend called Victoria. When Jude finds out that her Mum is drinking, she’s shocked, and when she sees her smoking, even though it was years ago when she gave up, she’s even more shocked. To get more things on her mind, her friend, Kevin Carter, has a crush on her and popular-but-mean girl is picking on her.
How will Jude’s story end?

I loved this book. It was sad,romantic and exciting. This book really made me think about how lucky I was. I thought I could really relate to the Jude in the story because she was the same age as me. This book was about a 13 year old girl named Jude who has to cope with serious life problems which is sad but important to know about an I love the way that Cathy Cassidy has her own unique way of writing and when you read her books the characters seem so real after.
I also thought that Kevin Carter was so cute and funny. You are my favorite author.
It would be great if there was a sundae girl 2.

I think sundae Girl is just amazing. i’ve just finished reading it and i love the way Kevin Carter wants Jude to go out with him but she just says ‘no’ and walks away. he still tries, though.
i can’t wait to read Angel Cake. i’ve read the extract and it sounds AMAZING. but no surprise there as all Cathy Cassidy books are. write a sequel to it! do it like Dizzy and Lucky Star, when you don’t have to have read the first one to understand what’s going on.
