I have just finished Driftwood – I couldn’t put it down. How did you come up with such original characters? I felt so worried for Paul – it makes you realise how serious bullying can be. Can’t wait to read your other books….

Driftwood was so good I read it in about 2 hours. Your books are so addictive and you’re a real inspiration…
Lauren, age 12
I really like your books I have read all of them 5 times each and I don’t even get bored, my favourite one is Driftwood. It was really good
because when they put make up on Paul I didn’t want to laugh (like i would do normal in a non-mean way), but I wanted to cry. I felt that I was in his shoes and in most books i don’t feel like that and if i had read it like another author would have written it I doubt I would have felt as much sympathy as I did. I just wanted to say thank you for writing such wonderful books.
Anna, age 10

Driftwood was touching, beautiful and heartfelt. I loved the Crazy,
Carefree character of Joey and the intense relationships between Hannah,

Kelly, age 12
driftwood is so good. i no what it’s like to be bullied though lukily
not as much as that.ALWAYS tell someone. i thought it would get worst
and thought i could handle it on my own but i couldn’t. they were told
to apolijise but they didn’t.i don’t care cause they stopped. NEVER keep
it to yourself tell a mate who can help.don’t be bullied for no reason
love who you are! kellyxxxxx

Romany, age 11
I thought that this book gave a really powerful message – bullying isn’t
OK and being yourself doesn’t mean you can let people do that to you. It
gave me inspiration for my new book – it’s about Hayley, a girl who has
a wildchild big sister Liayla who has a terrible secret… Thanks Cathy,
your books rule!
Zozo, age 12

very sensitive to peoples feelings and picked out Paul’s problem
practically right from the start. i will definately be reading

Annabelle, age 14
I liked this story alot. I thought Paul was gay at first when he kept
drawing Kit! It had lots of twists and turns, the kittens were adorabe
too! I loved the way it ended!
Sophia, age 13
its amazing and really true-to-life.the best book ever!
Jessica, age 12
This is my favourite Cathy Cassidy book! I could really relate with Paul and so I fell in love with him straight away! The sea green eyes/floppy toffee coloured hair combination sounds irresistable… And we could discuss comics and he could show me his superhero art and I could show him my manga art… BE REAL PAUL YOU DUMMY!!!! Joey seemed really cool, wish I had the confidence to dress like that! My best friends auntie is a teacher at my school who doesn’t exactly like me down to one reason: hair. I absolutely refuse to wear my hair up unless I’m in her eyeline or any other slightly strict teachers, and when I do it’s always at the side. I guess in that way I’m similar to Joey! I hated Kit, i don’t think he learned his lesson… then again who am I to judge? As for the cats, i liked Pauls idea: Scrappy, Dusty and Scruff, but only because Krusty sounds a little…. hmmm… I think I’ll save that one for later.
Hannah, age 11
i thought driftwood was fab! as soon as i saw the main caracter had the same name as me i begged my mum 2 buy it 4 me!! paul, joey, kit and all the other crazy characters reminded me of my mates and family and the book helped me thru some tough times. rock on, cathy!!! xxxx
Maryam, age 12

I love the way in all of these books you can feel as if you are the actual main character but in Driftwood i felt it most because i have had life experiences like that, except i was more like joey!!! =D
Laura Amber, age 12
I would just like to say that this is probably one of the best books I have ever read. It’s really sad how Paul gets bullied in the worst way just because he has is different to everyone else. I just wish that him and Hannah could have kissed…..!!! I still think it’s wonderful though!!

Jessie, age 11
Absolutely magical. I borrowed it from a good friend and I had to force myself to give it back. It takes a lot of skill to make somebody feel the way Cathy makes you feel. I would recommend it to everyone I know.
Yasmin, age 12
This probably has to be my most favourite book out of them all. I love this book because I can relate to most of the characters, like Hannah. Hannah is trying to pick up the pieces and work out what is going on. I also relate to Kit because sometimes I can be really arrogant (but I like him at the end because he learns his lesson.) Thank-you Cathy Cassidy for writing this amazing book – you really have captured the hearts of 10, 11 and 12 year-olds.
Claudia, age 11

This book was so well written. I actually felt like I couldn’t put the book down! In homework session, me and my friends sit next to eachother and giggle the whole way through, but I couldn’t bring myself to leave this fascinating story; so I was reading and crying and laughing though the book, whilst all my mates were staring daggers at me because I made them all shut up! Soon, all of my mates were reading the book and enjoying it just as much as I did!
I especially enjoyed reeading about Paul. I could completely understand why Hannah fell for him, he’s so dreamy it really made me think.
BT, age 14

I thought Driftwood was the best book ive ever read of yours, it was great.Ive only read to other books of yours scarlet and dizzy they were both really good.I have read alot of other books before, but you are the best author.I enjoyed your book because it was about how bad bullying is.I would really like u to write a sequal to Driftwood
Louise, age 13
Driftwood is one of my favourite books. It relates so well to my life. I get bullied, and I’m different. And i’ve been through self-harm and wore sweatbands to keep them covered. I wouldn’t mind if you posted this or not, I just want you to read it, it would mean so much to me. I couldn’t tell you how much your books have helped me, they’ve helped me realise that it’s okay to be different and you should tell people if you’re getting bullied. You have also helped me realise that drugs are dangerous, they ruin your life. I want to thank you for all your help, your books really do mean something.
Gurpreet, age 12
i absoloutely loooooved driftwood and i beg cathy cassidy to write a sequel. it could be about hannah and paul and everything else going on around them pleeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeease write a sequel. if you do i will be ecstatic!!!!!!!!

Nicole, age 12
I found driftwood sad, funny, happy, and exciting at the same time. It’s based on such a sad subject that sadly does happen and it is a heart touching, brilliant book. I loved it and thought it was one of her best. i can not wait for her new book Lucky Star to come out as I am hooked on Cathy’s books. THEY ROCK!
Georgina, age 12
I finsihed Driftwood the toher day, and I can’t stop thinking about it! I could relate to Paul’s problems as I have a problem with bullying because I’m different. It’s such a pain when people can’t accept other’s individuality. I enjoyed this book because it’s completely different than what you would expect, not many writers write about goths, punks or Emo Kids, and I almost cried when I found out that Paul was missing. I borrowed Driftwood from a friend who’d say that I’d like it, and I absolutely LOVE it.
Beth, age 12

I have read Driftwood twice already and still don’t get bored of it. Cathy writes books that you just can’t get enough of but this one has to be my personal favourtie. I got a set of four for christmas and read them all within days. I got so excited about them i couldn’t put them down!
Thank you for such a wonderful book. It will be my favourite for eternity.
Hollie M, age 10
This book was incredible – I actually felt like I was Hannah watching Paul being bullied. I felt so sorry for Paul – I nearly cried, and it isn’t even real life! Joey was just having a hard time – I own this book and read it once a month (squeezing it in between Cathy’s other books). It is AWESOME. If I were a book crictic, I would recomend this book to all children – girl or boy – from the ages 9+.
Yasmin, age 12
Wow, wow and double wow!! This book, in my opinion, is the BEST one out of the whole series. (I haven’t read Lucky Star yet, but I am hoping to buy the book very soon!)
My favourite characters were Hannah and Joey. I liked how Joey was a rebel and had spunk. I liked how with Hannah she was a loyal and true friend from start to finish. Kit was very mean towards Paul, but learned his lesson in the end. Paul was a very nice but disturbed boy, but worked his way through his problems after a tough fight.
Cathy, a big thumbs up to you – you’ve really started something.
P.S: I’d love for Hannah & Paul to get together! I think alot of the readers would appreciate it if you did a sequel to Driftwood!
Ellise. age 12
I found this book on the floor of my school library and decided to take it out, just for a laugh. I read the first page on a friday afternoon and didn’t put it down until it was twelve pm and I was in trouble. The next day I got so into it I finished it before lunch! Thank you Cathy Cassidy for this great book!
Kathy, age 10
Driftwood was one of my favourite books i’ve ever read. I couldn’t put it down, It’s so addictive! I’ts, kinda sad, but really happy aswell. But most of all, it’s very touching. Emily, age 15
I think Driftwood is my favourite book of Cathy Cassidy’s collection.
Why? Because it has everything in it i love, romance, heart-wrenching past stories and a hot guy with green hair! This book was the first one i read out of the collection and everytime i read it, even though i know whats coming, i’m suprised. I love it so much, it’s gotten me through alot. Taking myself out of my boring life and putting myself in Hannah’s.

Driftwood is one of my favourite books in the world. It has something that I can relate my own school life to, which made it even better to read. For teenagers like me, I recommend them to read this book, it is a very COOL book. Its about my favourite place to be in the world, the beach, its a romantic story with an ending we all look forward to. The ending makes me want to read the sequel if there is. THIS IS DEFINATELY A GOOD STORY!!!
Saba, age 12
Add 1 cups of friendship,2 teaspoons of betrayal and a pinch of love and what do you get?...DRIFTWOOD, of course. This book is anything and everything you will ever need.3 in 1.

Hanniiee, age 14
This is my all time favorite book…. Its so magical and different from any other book i have read but you can feel the characters emotions and really understand them and relate to them. I have read it again and again but I never get bored of it. I think it spreads really important messages about being yourself. And shows what bulling can do. I haven’t read a book as good as that one in a long time. I think people who say you are ‘The new Jacqueline Wilson’ are wrong. You are so much better. Thank you for writing it. I know a lot of people who should read your book and realize what they are doing by bulling people.

Emma, age 11
Driftwood has got to be the nomber 1 best book i have EVER EVER read!
The main characters are two best friends, girls called Hannah and Joey. Paul,Joey’s foster brother and Kit Hannah’s brother are also two main characters.
Paul is 13 years old whereas Joey and Hannah are 12. Paul has a secret crush on Hannah but Hannah dosent know, whereas Kit and Joey cant resist each other!
Paaul gets bullied at his school by Kit and his mates, and so Paul runs away. The police search everywhere for him, but he is nowhere to be seen. Hannah is such a good friend to him though so she knows where he’ll be, on a island called Seal island, and thats where she found him.
Paul got sent away back to a childrens home and Hannah was desperate for him to return. One day while she awas down at the beach with her cute kitten she had found in the kitchen bins, she saw him. Paul was living with Joey and her family again at last! Paul never got bullied again!
Bryony, age 13

They are amazing! They make you think and you can really share how the characters are feeling. I think perhaps Driftwood might be my favourite of all of yours books. Paul is my very character out of any of them! He’s so sweet! I wish people didn’t pick on people just because of how they looked…
Thanks again Cathy for another fantastic book!

I read an extract of Driftwood in Dizzy and I had to wait about a year before I saw it in shops (I was in France) then eventually got it and LOVED it. Joey is awesome, and if I were in ENglish school then I would definatly be wearing non-school uniform like Joey! (In French school there’s NO uniform!) I love Good Charlotte too and stated listening to way more of their music since reading Driftwood! I’ve read it like 7 times already, it’s that kool! :D

Driftwood is a fantastic book.
I finished reading it in one day because I was so hooked on to it.
It’s so sad when the boys start bullying Paul, Hannah’s brother Kit included. Paul was lucky to have Hannah there to be his friend through everything.
It was heartbreaking when Paul had to leave, and I loved the ending when he came back.
Krusty is such a cute cat!!
Peruhane, age 11
I have just finished reading Drfitwood. All I can say is WOW! It’s amazing! I really like Paul’s character; different, stands-out, tough life. ‘Ya know? Over-all, the books fab.

Ana, age 13
Cathy,
i read “driftwood” when i was 12…it was…i don’t have the words to express it…it was too good to be true…when i was nearing the end of the book, paul had become my best friend…and when he went away i was weeping like mad…and then when he came back, i kept hugging my pillow(imaginary paul)
the book was marvellous…i doubt there will be other books like this one….ever… congratulations…
Bethany, age 14
OMG I loved this book i know that you get it a lot but i still can’t believe that it is even possible for people to do such things…. i know that it was fictional but still. especially round the bins that almost made me cry and i neva cry! i am literally begging you for a sequal. maybe with the story line of hannah and pauls romance and him still opening up and recovering from his trauma =]
well anyway thnx so much for writing such an amazing book (seriously consider the sequal i know that you will make one 14 year old happy =D)
Justine, age 12
The book is so good! it mixes funny things about popular girls that are stupid, and things about horrible jocks that think their all that and make fun of people for being a little different. It makes me love Joey but also hate her at the same time because she falls in love with Kit, and makes Paul be even more made fun of, but then shes fun and not afraid to wear fun colorful clothes! It makes me want to try new and different things to show those horrible people that I DONT CARE!!!
Siying, age 10
This book was so awsome couldn’t put it down as soon as I started!!

Cassie, age 13
OMG! I [LOVE] Driftwood! It’s funny, sad and romantic – I mean, I love the humour at the beginning, and I feel happy for Joey and Kit…but then he goes and spoils a great relationship to be a bully. Also, OMG, I almost cried…I was so sad about Paul, especially when I found out about the sweatbands and the long sleeves…my heart flipped over too! Great writing, Cathy – we all <3 ur books so keep it up - can't wait for the nxt book ur writin!

My sister got me hooked on your books and though she doesn’t read them much anymore, I do and I love them! When I first read Driftwood, when I was 9, it was just fantastic. I love it. It is surreally gripping, and you can’t put it down. I read it in two hours flat! Joey is like my best friend Phoebe – she’s crazy! I like Hannah and Paul best though, because they’re more serious and don’t just see all the positive parts of life. I felt soooo sorry for Paul, and it felt like I actually knew him, and what he was going through. So, as you may be able to imagine, when I finally got my own copy of this book for my birthday last week (The library had lent out Driftwood to me so many times) I was over the moon!

Lola, age 12
Hey Cathy! I love your books! this is a review right? Reviews are to give feedback, opinions, and to get readers to read it, right? Well… I’m not being mean or anything, I’m being a good reviewer. A good writer should be open to all opinions. Negatives too… Without negatives, you can’t get as much feed back right? So… The book was a bit boring if you ask me… But I loved your other ones!
Gemma, age 13

Charlotte, age 11
Driftwood was a brilliant book. When I was reading it I couldn’t put it down! I read it about 6 months ago and I still sometimes go to the library and borrow it out. The characters are so original and yet they are so different. Joey was an out going girl and wanted to let people know what she was and wwasn’t going to do. Hannah was the type of character where you just can’t help feeling her uphappiness and joy, and she was such a likeable person. Paul was such an easy going person, until he was bullied. He was different from the other boys who featured in this book such as Kit. Paul showed Hannah a different way to dream, and it helped her character grow through out this book. Over all I loved it!
Bryony, age 11

Driftwood was fantastic! I absolutely adored it. I lent it to a friend, who I knew was being bullied, and it made her realise how serious bullying was. She told sombody, and the bullying stopped. The characters seemed so real, it was like a little movie in my head. My paper back is so worn out, when I read it now, I always have to be careful because I have read it so many times I’m afraid it will fall apart!
Allysha, age 9
Hey Cathy! I loved Driftwood because I really love collecting sheels and Driftwood. Jo’s dad is really clever to be able to make all cool things out of driftwood shells and other stuff. And did Paul Slater give that Valentines card to Hannah or not?

I desperatley want to know, and I know the characters so well now that I almost feel as if they’ve got another story to tell! Carolyn, age 12
Awww… I’ve just read it for the eighth time now. I’m addicted! My favourites are Gingersnaps (I made my friend read it!) and Scarlett (another friend only read the last bit LOL!) and Driftwood. I think I’m in love. I NEED TO GET ALL CATHY’S OTHER BOOKS!!!
Anya, age 12
Cathy I just read Driftwood and now I have read all of them except Ginger Snaps. Driftwood was amazing and sad and gripping at the same time!!! I love Krusty the kitten! My name is Anya and so I can’t wait to get Angel Snaps when it comes out!!! You are the best author ever keep writing!!!
Jodie, age 12
Even though I’ve not finished it yet, I think this book is TOTALLY AMAZING. I borrowed it from the school library not knowing what its about, and within a day or so I just couldn’t put it down!!! Theres so many fun twists and turns that are just waiting for you to discover. I feel so sorry for Hannah, having her best friend stolen by her brother. I know how that feels.
Vicky, age 11
Driftwood is amazing! Its great because if you have ever been bullied that book makes you believe that if you try hard enough you can always win!
Dolphin, age 11
Driftwood is an incredibly touching story and I read the whole book in one go because I needed to know what happens. It has a dramatic, slightly sad ending but then the last few pages are happy. I love the way everything builds up gradually through the story. It should have been obvious to me that Paul would go to Seal Island to try and find the spirit of his Mum, but it wasn’t. I felt like I was really there!
Farah, age 9
I love Driftwood! It will definitely help me if I go through tough times… I am currently reading Lucky Star but Driftwood will still remain the best of the best for me. Keep on writing fabulous books, Cathy!
Marina, age 12
This book is already translated into portugueses and 6th. June It will be sent to me!

Manisha, age 14
i first read this book when i was 11, and even now i’m still obsessed with it. i know i’m a bit old to still be reading this book but i don’t care, it’s one of my favourite books. nothing is like it, there’s just something so awesome about it. i cried twice after reading driftwood the last time. it’s so tragic yet it’s great in the end when things get better for paul. it’s so original with no cliches, it’s perfect.
Kaira, age 9
I think this book sounds very readable and it shows kids of all ages to work as a team and take swimming lessins.I think Cathy is as good as Jacqueline Wilson!
Janice, age 13
I LOVE IT!!!!
Grace, age 11
What can I say? Thios book was overwhelming and amazing. I loved the detail and expression put into Paul’s character and Joey’s rebelliousness was hilarious. Self harming and bullying are hard subjects to write about and Cathy, you conquered them well!

Mella, age 16
This was the book that convinced me of everyone’s individuality when I had just turned thirteen. The powerful friendship is extremely moving and the portrait of Paul can leave the reader in tears. The storyline is convincing and the characters interesting, almost life-like. The dreamy and magical, yet real setting just draws the reader in, and even now I find it hard to put down without finishing it all in one seating.
Nina, age 10
Driftwood is a really great book, and the characters are amazing. I live in Australia so Driftwood is sought of like my life, without the bullying.
Laura, age 12

I finished Driftwood in like one or two hours. It was amawing! It is in my top 10 favourite books. I almost cried when I read it though, esspecialy when they put make-up on Paul. I would’ve fell in love with him.
Sarah, age 13
I remember when this book came out and I went rushing to the bookshop to buy it! It’s still my favourite book you’ve written to date – the spine has actually curved inwards, and a chunk of 10 pages fell out the other day – that’s how much I’ve read it! Please write a sequel, the characters are so real and powerful and special and I am desperate to know what happens in the future to them!
Sam, age 12
It was really an excellent
showing about your indivuality really really great
Aimee, age 12
It is really good, I read it on my Half- Term and I finished it in 6 hours it was great, it got me in tears though, I just wanted to say I loved it, please write more books like this one!

Georgia, age 10
The book was really good. I got really gripped at the end when I heard how Paul’s Mum died and how the clue of Paul’s dissapearence pointed too it ! A great story for all ages!
Alannah, age 11
When Hannah’s best friend Joey gets a foster brother, Paul, Hannah becomes very close friends with him. But lately, as Joey and Hannah’s brother, Kit start going to Dumfries late at night Hannah becomes worried. Is she losing her best friend? Even worse! Paul isnt settling in well with Kits friends, Hannah tries to tell Joey but she’s so in love she doesnt notice much. Can Hannah rescue her friendship with Joey as it is faiding fast? Maybe the toffee haired boy Paul can help out…
I really enjoyed this book even over your new one Angel Cake i would always choose this one. My Mum is also an author and has the same Agent as you! Her writing name is Nell Dixon and she says one day if she goes to a party with her agent or something like that she might see you. I hope one day i can meet you aswell because i am a big fan of your books. Love you, Cathy… Please dont stop writing as books are boring without you. :]

Bex, age 9
cathy cassidy is the best auther my best friend likes her books i like her books everyone likes her books and i defiently recomend this book
Loula, age 12
omg i loved that book my fave charcter was joey im so like her i was a bit scared paul was going to slit his wrists but like all the other books i loved it so much
Jessica, age 11
Ok- EVERY cathy Cassidy book is a winner, but I think Driftwood is the best. You cant help but love Joey- the laughable, cheekily funny girl with the unique uniform, and Paul is dreamily intresting. He doesn’t let you know much about him so you become inquisitive-you read on to know more about this troubled, dreamy boy. Hannah and Kit are so – normal. It gives you great contrast between the four.
I’m happy that (in the end) Joey becomes unstuck of Kit’s spell- and realises he is a average teenager- a grumpy ididot, the way Hannah sees him. I laughed out loud when I heard Kit was going out with Karen Mckay-a funny touch!
In the end- it is fair to say, Cathy Cassidy has written some great books, and Driftwood is one of the best.
Gwenice, age 12
Driftwood is awesome. I love how Cathy Cassidy makes every book interesting. You rock!
Ayesha, age 12

OMG!!! “Driftwood” is one of the BEST BOOKS I HAVE EVA READ!!! IT’S, LIKE,SOOO COOL!! My favorite character probably has to be Joey (Closley followed by Paul and the kittens) because I am a lot like her in many ways! I have a punk/goth side to me, and I am also a huge Good Charlotte fan!
I can’t really choose a favorite Cathy Cassidy book…..because they’re all soo good!
Cathy U r da best author in the WHOLE ENTIRE WORLD!!!(That is hard to say because I am I bookworm and I read loads of books, But Cathy your books are by far the best)

Driftwood is awesome! I couldn’t put it down.
Hannah, age 11
I was given the book fom my mum when i was sick and i loved it. Especially because the main girl’s name is Hannah. It’s really cool how any girl who likes to read or not would instantly love this book. I mean it has a bit of everything. Romance, friendship even a bit of scariness but there’s one thing for certain: THIS A BOOK NO ONE WILL FORGET!
Sunna, age 11
Driftwood is a great book it’s my favourite book by Cathy Cassidy!I thought it was horrible how Paul got bullied…
Nim, age 11
I think this book is sweet, encouraging, and friendship-y!
It’s sweet ‘cause the cute but scrappy kittens that make their world more magical.
Encouraging since when Paul gets bulllied, it just gets worse, which shows people who aare getting bullied that you should speak up! And friendship-y because of the way Hannnah doesn’t stand for her bad brother, Kit, to bully her mate (or more-than-a-mate)!
Keeley, age 11
I think the book driftwood is brilliant! Well done Cathy! it is really creative!
i particularly liked the bit were they find the kittens!

I have read this intriguing book a few times. No matter how many times you read it, it will feel like you have read it only first time!As a good book, plunges you deeper into the book,so did this book for me, and other readers in my age-group,too,i guess…?Anyway, all i want to say is all Cathy Cassidy’s books are awesome, but in this book there was something special which made me say, the best book out of all her books..
It was also very emotional and i admit, i cried at the very end.I would give it 9/10 marks.

Sharon, age 11
Your writing style is COOL, cathy cassidy. I really love it. The way you write and the way you express all the emotions. I can FEEL it. It felt so real i can almost touch it.
Emma, age 11
It is all from the point of view of a girl called Hannah whose brother Kit and best friend Joey hit it off. When Joey’s newly adopted brother Paul who is about 11 I think, turns up, things don’t go so well with Kit. Kit dislikes Paul’s drawing. Or rather, dislikes Pual drawing him!!! He thinks Paul is some gay stalker boy who needs to be sorted out. Which is nonsense and I hate homophobic people anyway! It’s a way of life, their chocie, not affecting others is it? Well, Kit and his friends bully Paul around and whilst Hannah tries to work out how to save him, her and Joey discover some stray kittens and Hannah finally persuades her mum to let her keep one! But one day Paul goes missing, and detectives find strange clothes on the beach, what happens, you will have to read it to find out…
Eugina, age 11
Your book is sooo adictive that i can’t put it down!!

This is one of the best books I have ever read because I love sad books, and this one def’ made me cry! I got it the christmas after it came out but I didn’t think much of it until 2007 when I got your book Lucky Star for holiday, then I started getting into your books and have them all! I think Driftwood is the best out all CC books, don’t get me wrong though, they’re all good aswell, but like I said, Driftwood is my fave’. I love the bit where everyone finds out about Paul and they have to find him, that bit also made me cry. I love the little kitten that always follows Hannah around, it’s so cute! xx

Cathy, you have me hooked again on another fantastic book. Paul, well this guy, very complicated.. green hair, c’mon? Buthe seems like a good friend. Hannah and Joey are very different from each other so it seems like we have a mad bunch here and Kit, he seems not so nice, like my brother hehe..
AMAZING book !
Sarah
I love your book Driftwood so much, that it’s my favourite book!Since the people are Scots,I sometimes feel like Scotland’s a popular place cos I’m from Edinburgh.
My favourite character is Joey Donovan cos she is cool, quirky, weird and sounds like a good friend to have.
My favourite part is when Joey gives Karen Mackay attitude after Karen thought that Kit was blowing wolf whistles at her.And if I was a character, and would never mess with Joey.
Love you Cathy!xxx
Jess, age 13

Farai, age 13
driftwood is simply amazing cathy you rock!!
Boryana
I love Cathy Cassidy because she writes about things that we all care or should care about my favourite book is Driftwood because it is sensible and I think 57 percents of the kids all over the world know what is it to be in Paul’s situation .
Jessica, age 10
i think i am in love with paul
Charlotte, age 12
I loved this book. I got it ages ago and have never stopped reading it. I love the characters (especially joey and paul) and its just the perfect book ever!!!
I want to be a writer when im older and i hope to write books like yours. I have read this book to many times to count. The setting is so origanal. Having it near the beach is such a cool idea! I believe in beach magic (i always go to the seaside) and having it written on paper like this is amazing. You are such a good writer.
It shows real life situations like bullying and self harm (although it only breifly touches that) and how some teachers wont help but some will. I love the cats in the book as I two of my own. Its such a good idea to name them after the simpsons! I like how hannah and paul get on so well like a less depressing mini version on romeo and juliet!
Joey is amazing. She is such a rebellious character and I have a friend just like her! Less chatty LOL! Its cool you put fostering into the book because people dont realise all the things they go through and getting through to the younger generation about it is useful.
well i think ive gone on too much just want you to know this book is amazing and im never going to put it down. Reading it now!!!
BUY IT!!!
Emily, age 9
It made me cry it was so cool. Paul was my favourite character, hes so kind and unusual and mysterious.
Jessica, age 11
I have read basicaly all of the Cathy books and I must say, this is definately one of my faves! Driftwood is so compelling and touching that when the book came to the end, I went straight back and read it all over again! All of the tension and heartfelt emotion of the story completely seeps out of the book, so when you look around, all you can see is the rolling grey ocean and a whitewashed cottage with bleached driftwood scattered on the ground. The feeling of the book really got to me and I look at life from a totally different perspective now. I really love ‘Driftwood!’

Oh my god! I love all of your books but this one is a definate fave! I got soo worried about Paul at one point that I almost cried. Joey is really cool and I love her origionality. Kit seriously annoyed me but the story wouldn’t be right without him, and I’ve got a best mate called Hannah, and told her all about the book, she loved the idea and ‘her’ character. Fab! x

Anasthasia, age 12
It is a great book. i don’t think it’s fair if your older brother goes out with your best friend but face it happens to most people. i think it’s really sad when Paul is getting bullied and has to go away but luckily he comes back.
All my Love

Bullying can really ruin lives. My friend moved away because he was bullied. . . Bullying is serious.
This book deals with some inportant subjects. . .It helped me through some difficult times.

driftwood is absolutely AMAZING. i have read all your books but driftwood is the best in my opinion.
i guess thats because i can realate to paul as i was bullied, plus i went through self harm once- but never, ever again….
i love joey to BITS! she was os much like me its unbeleievable. i love good charlotte, i went out with my mates bro, and my teacher is forever giving off to me about my customised punky uniform style!
as for kit, i think he is really stupid for bullying paul and saying he was gay….awwk. if he was my bro, i would SLAP HIM anyway, if you havent read driftwood, then do, cos its amazing!
Izzy, age 13
After recentlly reading Gingersnaps and Scarlett, I decided to try out Driftwood too. I loved it! The chracters were easy to imagine and you got a really clear idea of what they were like. The story line was fantastic too. Hannah was so kind to Paul, even when others didnt like him. So many amazing things happened, and it was good it had a happy ending too. Bullying is a serious matter= the book really makes you think. I enjoyed it tremendously, and would again reccomend it to any Cathy Cassidy fan. 10/10, 5 stars and a brilliant story.

I’m really glad you wrote this book!It shows people how bad bullying really can be! I know how it feels to be bullied, I was bullied 3 times in primary school.
I loved the book because of its characters when I read it I felt like I was in the book myself. Your writing really reaches out to me so keep writing!!

Driftwood… where to start? I simply love Joey’s taste in clothes and fell in love with Paul almost instantly; because I can’t resist guys with toffee-colored hair. When I found out he was emo… well, that shocked me! I should have known, since he was carrying around a knife, but it was so shocking! This book had me at the first glance of its cover… and author, of course!
Millie, age 8
I’m in the middle and so far its brill
Em, age 13
I loved the characters, especially Paul and Joey.
I liked Paul because he had more courage than the bullies.
And I realy like the cats. Krusty just sounds so cute, why would Hannah’s mum say no to him?
Sakshi, age 11
Driftwood is fantastic! When I read it I could actually relate to the characters especially Paul.

wow, driftwood was the first cathy cassidy book that i read and i loved it so much! it started out as just a normal book from my school libray that i happened to pick up and read….soon i got really hooked on it. i bought the book from the book shop so that i could keep it and read it over and over again! later through the year i bought all the other books and cathy cassidy became my Favourite author!!!!
Zoe, age 12

Chloe, age 10
CATHY YOUR MY FAVORITE AUTHOUR!!!!!! i love this book! best book ever
Lucy, age 11
Such a moving story. I could really feel the emotions of the characters throughout the story and I felt so sorry for Paul and how he just chose to ignore what Kit’s friends did to him. You really think of how sad Hannah is when Paul left and then he came back and she was so joyous. I love the ending how it all came back to beach magic and how Paul and Hannah are together again.
Cathy – I really admire all your books!
Olivia, age 11
I loved driftwood Because the charecters seemed so real to me . It took me 2 days to read .

Mbalu, age 10
I read all yopur books in the wrong order and so far driftwood was second too last.
Then i read sundae girl i thought it was the best book ever but when i read Driftwood and i said wow. I dont know how someone can write so brilliant it is so good i actually cried for paul and i never cry. When i got halfway through the book i thought paul was dead and i didn’t want to read on, but my mum told me too see what had happened mabey it wouldn’t be so bad. Then paul got taken away then i once again refused to read on, but i got bored and said you know what i am going to read on i cried for hannah and way mad at her brother and joey but it ended up being a fairy tale and was hapily ever after i was a bit bored of the end and i thought there might be part two. i still love cathy cassidy though.
Martene, age 12
i think that this is a really good book especaily because i don’t usally read books like this. My favourite character is joey, i think this is because of our similarities, i love good charlotte like her and think she has a good sense of fasion… but apart from that it has a good story line and keeps you gripped, i read it in under an hour!
